The Lions best ILB since Earl Holmes got hurt. He played well against run and the pass. He signed a 5 year extension this offseason. According to Football Outsiders, Tulloch led the team in stops with 67. His success rate vs. the run was 65% and the pass was 65%.

DeAndre Levy

Moved to left side backer in 2011 he played well early but struggled late. He took bad angles and showed little speed. Levy was one of the worst coverage linebackers in the league according to Pro Football Focus. Football Outsiders rated him 62% against the run 49% vs, the pass. He was credited with 10 missed tackles. Playing on a one year tender, this could be his last season in Detroit.

Justin Durant

6th season 13 games 12 starts 68 tackles 2 sacks

Solid season in 2011. The Lions missed him when he was out with a concusion on a cheap shot at Minnesota. Had a great game vs. the Chargers but was awful in the playoff loss to the Saints. His success rate vs. the run was 83% and only 32% vs. the pass.

Ashlee Palmer

Palmer was claimed off waivers from Buffalo in 2010 he has started at every position in the linebacking corps. He is the primary back up to Tulloch and a special teams standout.

Tahir Whitehead

Rookie 5th round Temple 163 t 7 sacks 1int 7ff

Played outside in the 3-4 at Temple but will play at will in the 4-3 here in Detroit. Gunther raved about Tahir saying "he much better than a 5th round pick." He ran 4.7 in the 40 did 21 reps 37 VJ 1004 Broad 4.37 20 7.18 ldrill. Will have a chance to develop this season before pressing for a starting job in 2013.

Doug Hogue

2nd year  13 games 6 tackles

A converted running back from Syracuse, Tyrone Wheatley told me Doug was a "high character kid who will do well in Detroit." He will have a shot to back up Durant and move into the starting spot in 2013.

Travis Lewis

Rookie 7th round Oklahoma 446 tackles 9 int 7 sacks 4ff

Led the Sooners in tackles for 4 years and I gave him a 3-4th round grade on tape. He ran 4.88 at the combine dropping him in the draft. 26 reps 35 vj 1000 broad 4.22 20 7.27 l drill.  He probably has to play inside in the NFL. Could end up on the practice squad.

Slade Norris

4th year Practice Squad

Norris a practice addition last season has 9 games of NFL experience. He is a strong side backer who can play on special teams. Unlikely to stick.

Oakland Raiders 4 games 2t
Jags 5 games 2t
Oregon State 19 sacks

Ronnie Sneed

Rookie UDFA Kentucky 147 tackles 2 int 1.5 sacks

Played outside at the OTA. Real nice guy who has answered me on Twitter twice. 6' 235 lbs. Ran a modest 4.74 at his pro day along with 18 reps 30" vj 9' broad 4.46 20 6.99 l drill. I hope he makes the practice squad.

Carmen Messina

A tackling machine at New Mexico State. Messina saw reps in the OTA at Mike. It will be fun watching him and Sneed in the preseason. He ran 4.85 and did 31 reps at his pro day. 7.18 in the l drill is pretty good.
