Detroit Lions sign C Joe Madsen

Detroit Lions sign 3rd year man Joe Madsen to replace the injured Darren Keyton. Madsen will add depth to the interior line. With Larry Warford out as well, the line will be stretched in the final two preseason games.

Madsen was an UDFA out of West Virginia. He spent practice squad time with the Packers and was in camp with Cleveland this year. He played for the LA Kiss of the Arena Football League as well.

Detroit Lions trade 2013 7th round draft pick Michael Williams to New England. Williams missed 2013 with an arm injury then was moved to tackle in 2014. He spent the year on the practice squad.

Lions sign UDFA Rookie DE Erik WIlliams out of Bethune-Cookman. He was in camp with the Bills this August.. Williams played in the NFLPA all-star game. A long shot with marginal size 6'2" 270 and speed 5.01 40.

Lions lose to Washington but 1st team looked great. Knocking out RG 3. 2nd team was run over by the Redskins. Dan O looked sharp. Kellen did not. Zach Zenner was impressive. Injuries to Caraun Reid, Larry Warford and Jordan Thompson.

Lions defeat the Jets 23-3 in the preseason opener at Ford Field. Went down early and my son and I got autographs from Darius Slay, Eric Ebron, Haloti Ngata, LaAdrian Waddle and Jason Jones. Was able to sit in the 1st quarter with the families of the players. Talked to the girlfriend of Isaiah Johnson. Made our way up to the Family fun zone where my brother in law was kicked out for drinking a beer.

Observations:

Ameer Abdullah= Real Deal
Theo Riddick looks like an improved runner.
Run defense looks like it is in trouble. Jets went right the field with Chris Ivory.
Lions receivers looked good. Moore, Jones and Salas making claims on spots.
Better play from the slot CB. Josh Wilson is better than the guys we had there in recent years.

Detroit Lions sign CB Jocquel Skinner, place TE David Ausberry on IR

Lions place veteran TE David Ausberry on season ending injured reserve. He has an undisclosed injury, he likely will be have an injury settlement. He was brought in to give depth and competition at tight end.

Detroit Lions claimed veteran DT from the Chiefs. He psent 2014 on the practice squad. This is a reach to get anything out of Worthy. At MSU, Worthy showed the NFL ability but it never panned out at Green Bay.
