The Lions scored the last 24 points to seal the win. The Lions have lost 9 straight playoff games since. Melvin Jenkins had a 41 yard pick 6 of Troy Aikman.

Detroit qualified for the playoffs with 4-5 record in the strike shortened season. John Riggins ran for 119 yards for Washington. David Hill scored on 15 yard pass from Eric Hipple after the Lions fell behind 31-0. Eddie Murray kicked the XP.
