NFL draft preview FSU S Terrence Brooks

Checked on some tape ( Pitt, NC State, Clemson )on Terrence Brooks from FSU. This guy is a good player. Has the range and instinct to play centerfield. Reacts great to the ball in the air. Good enough tackler with speed to run guys down.

Not a big guy (5110 198) nor a physical presence. Dropped a couple picks as well.

I see Brooks as an early starter for teams looking for a true FS. Grade 6.5 3rd round.

NFL Draft Preview Safeties

Calvin Pryor Louisville 6.9 Solid starter

Superior athlete. Great range on the run and pass. Can play in the box, deep half and middle. Will bring it and make great collisions.

Misses a lot of tackles, takes bad angles and blows coverages. He reminds me of a big Louis Delmas. Some team will love this guy. I do not think the Lions should take him at 10.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Alabama 6.9 Solid Starter

Good athlete with range. Can cover slots, rb and TE man to man. Good position tackler. In the right place.

Not a physical presence. Will lose jump balls (see Texas A&M). Value at 20-30.

Deone Bucannon Washington State 6.5 solid rotational starter

Physical player. Runs the alley. Can match up with TE. Have some range at FS.

Misses tackles (See Oregon). Lacks instincts against the pass. Most comfortable in the box.

Does not make a lot of plays, Lacks instincts. Has ability.

Ed Reynolds Stanford 6.2 Contributor possible starter

Good tackler. Always in the right spot. Controls the traffic in the secondary.

Little range (See the Rose Bowl). Gets lost with the ball in the air. Little help to corners.

Jimmie Ward Northern Illinois 6.7 Solid rotational player

Good range against the pass. Can cover in the slot. Good tackler vs. the run. Good hands.

Small.  I like this guy. Has value at around Pick # 40.

Sean Parker Washington 5.9 special teams guy with value at position

Solid tackler, In the right place. Good football player.

Not a impact player. Lacks NFL Size and Speed. Will make a team

Lions let go of Safety Louis Delmas. This move saves the Lions around $6.5 million on the cap. Louis struggled with injury since Thanksgiving of 2011. He hurt his knee vs. the Pack and never was the same. He barely practiced during either season. He took bad angles and blew a lot coverages. He never meshed with Quin or Mathis.

Here is a Tribute:

Darqueze Dennard vs. Justin Gilbert

Broke down some film on top,CB prospects MSU CB Darqueze Dennard and OK State CB Justin Gilbert.

Dennard  ( Michigan, Stanford, Norte Dame, Nebraska, Minnesota)
Compact, well built player. Strong with his arms. Will get called for a lot of penalties in the NFL. Struggles playing the ball in the air. I see him as a solid CB in the NFL. I rate 6.8 at this point. Starter  in his rookie year.

Gilbert (Missouri, Texas, TCU)
Long, lean athlete. A little choppy in press man but makes up for it with a quick break. Superior ball skills. Plays the ball like a receiver. Great hands. I love this guy. It is early but this guy is high on my board. I rate him 7. Impact starter in the NFL. Could be a great return man as well.

Bonus

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix (Texas A&M, Mississippi State)

Free safety for Saban. Played a lot of center field. Good man cover guy. Can run the alley in run support. However, does not bring a physical presence. Had a nightmare game vs, A&M. Evans out jumped him and he missed Johnny football in the open field twice. Showed good range but not great instinct. I rate 6.7 starter late in rookie year. I still need to do some work on him.
