Detroit Lions sign WR Kaelin Clay to Practice Squad

Lions bring in rookie 6th round pick Kaelin Clay to the practice squad. He was one of the pre-draft visit to Detroit in March. He could have a future as the kick returner

Reactions to Detroit Lions loss at San Diego

Observations from week # 1

Joe Lombardi is not a good coordinator, He makes little if any adjustments during a game. He fails to design plays to get his best players the ball.

Disappointed by DC Teryl Austin. No adjustment to Keenan Allen.

Stephen Tulloch was awful. He struggled vs. the pass in 2014 but he was a major liability.

DeAndre Levy was a much bigger loss than Suh. Lost without him.

James Ihedigbo is awful. Cannot cover or tackle in space. Isa Abdul Quddus is waiting in the wings.
Glover Quin is good.

D-Line was fine. Tyrunn Walker is a load. Gabe Wright and Jermelle Cudjo played well.

If Darius Slay is hurt The Lions are in major trouble. Josh Wilson will have to move outside and Diggs will play the slot. Nevin Lawson would be the primary back up.

Matthew Stafford has not progressed. Still makes one stupid play a game that cost us.

Where is Calvin?

Ameer is real

The Lions are staring 0-5 in the face.

Bold Predictions for the 2015 Season

Every year I make some bold predictions, here they are:

Now that they Lions have only two QB they both will get hurt.

Ameer Abdullah will get hurt.

Zach Zenner wont do anything.

Corey Robinson will end up starting at Right Tackle.

The Lions will have to sign someone off the street to return kicks.

Anytime the opponent has a run over 4 yards the announcer will talk about how bad the Lions miss Suh. Even if its a sweep.

Josh Wilson will end up starting at CB.

James Ihedigbo will be benched.

Sam Martin will shank an important punt.

The Lions will be the first team to lose because of a missed extra point.

Season Predictions: 7-9

At San Diego L 21-20 on an missed extra point
At Minnesota L Adrian Peterson will run for over 200 yards.
Denver W Defend the Den
at Seattle L
Arizona L we never beat them.
Bears W unless they start Jimmy Clausen
Vikings W
At Chiefs W
At Packers L 1991
Raiders W I went to the Monday night game BO vs. Barry
Eagles L Too much Brent Celek
Packers L
at Rams L Nick Fairley has 6 sacks
At Saints L We always lose in NOLA
49ers W Caldwell fights Tomsula
at Bears W

Detroit Lions place CB Alex Carter on Short term IR, Re-sign Jermelle Cudjo

Lions place Rookie CB Alex Carter, a 3rd round pick, to short term injured reserve. He will not be able to play until at least week 10 vs. Green Bay. Carter missed most of the spring with commitment to school at Stanford and injured his ankle prior to camp and has very limited practice time. Many including this blog questioned taking him in third round. It is likely his rookie season will be a washout.

Here is a tribute:

A rare glimpse of Carter on the field.

As the this blog predicted, Jermelle Cudjo was brought back for a spot in the rotation on the defensive line. Caraun Reid is hurt and his status is in question for the early part of the season.

Cudjo re-signed after a strong preseason

Detroit Lions cut to 53

The 53 man roster has been established. I like that Brandon Copeland made the squad. He can play special teams and Sam. He might be what Kyle Van Noy should of. Surprised they kept Robinson.I think they could IR Carter and recall Cudjo.

The following have been release, cut, or waived:

Detroit Lions release Joseph Fauria and Kellen Moore

Lions release 3 rd year veterans TE Joe Fauria and QB Kellen Moore.

Fauria an UDFA in 2013 expolded on to the scene as a rookie with 7 touchdowns but an ankle injury ended his season in 2014. I believe the Lions do not trust Fauria with his story of how he hurt his ankle. He did not have surgery in the off season and the injury lingered into training camp.

Here is a tribute:

Fauria played 23 games with 2 starts in Detroit
24 rec 281 yards 8td

Lions cut QB Kellen Moore. A 3rd year udfa who has not played in an NFL game. HE has been the third QB the past two years. He is practice squad eligible and could be re-signed after some injury issues resolve themselves.
