Detroit Lions Draft Preview DE Jarvis Jones

#29 Jarvis Jones a transfer from USC

Jarvis Jones DE/OLB Georgia. I watched a number on films on Jones (Florida, Alabama, Vanderbilt, Nebraska, South Carolina). I believe he has to move to OLB in the Lions 4-3. He is too small to play full time DE in the NFL but he can be a dynamic player as blitzer and situational end.

His strengths are that he has explosive ability to rush the passer on the edge. He makes big plays with hands and hustle. I was impressed with his motor and effort even against the run.

Weakness is that he has not played as true linebacker. He was a DE in the Georgia 3-4. The Lions would have to determine if he can play in space and be creative with him to rush the passer.

Bottom Line: If his neck checks out medically, he is a sure fire top 3 pick. if he falls it is because of health concerns not play.
