2019 Detroit Lions undrafted free agents

Beau Benzschawel OG Wisconsin
College: 49 starts Consensus 1st team All-American
Combine: 6067 307 5.25 20 36.5 802

Big Wisconsin lineman. Most draft analysts had him as am early day three pick. Pro Football Weekly had him 4th round, PFF 163 on the big Board. He ranked 1st overall and 1st in run blocking.
I did not like him at the Senior Bowl. Not a great athlete. Struggled in pass protection. Has upside. Could be surprise.

Played 2 games and was on the 53 man all season. Will compete for time his 2nd year.

Malik Carney DE North Carolina

Has good production but is small for a End. Strong and has explosion. Worked out for the Lions during the process. Ranked #205 PFF Big Board and # 10 against (85.6) the run for DE.

A guy with size and strength. Will compete for the 5th WR spot. Had his best year in 2018 posting 73.2 overall rating. He improved his drop rate each year as well.

Finished season on the practice squad. Signed for 2020, released prior to the season.

Big LB that the Lions covet He was ranked #198 on PFF Big Board. Great tackler with 83.7 tackling grade. Will challenge for LB spot.

Injured reserve in 2019 released.

Matt Nelson OT Iowa

Strong player with a 82.4 overall grade from PFF. Played 1602 snaps in four years. Needs to improve his strength but has length some athletic ability.

Switched to OT. Was on the practice squad and signed for 2020.
