Smith a 4th year player from Wake Forest, was acquired by trade for TE Dan Gronkowski in 2010.
He struggled with injury, his attitude and covering receivers. He gambled and made some plays inlcuding a pick 6 against the VIkings in 2011 and a pick of Aaon Rodgers in 2010. Too often, he was giving up touchdowns.

Overall, he played 23 games with the Lions starting 11. He made 67 tackles, 12 PBU and 8 picks with 2 tds.
