Lions release CB Ross Weaver

Weaver, a 3rd year man from Michigan State was waived by the Lions to make room for CB Drew Coleman. He was originally signed to the practice squad 12/27/2011 and re-signed for 2012 offseason. Weaver bounced around his rookie between the Cowboys, Dolphins, Seahawks and the AFL Jacksonville Sharks.

Lions sign CB Drew Coleman, Justin Miller Waive WR Soup Harris

Lions sign CB Drew Coleman to replace Aaron Berry. Coleman is a 7th year man from TCU, he played in the slot at Jacksonville last year before his release this offseason.

Lions sign CB/KR Justin Miller to the 90 man roster. Coleman last played in 2009 with the Jets, he was cut in 2010 by the Cards.

Lions Sign Jon Scott and Waive OT Johnny Culbreath

The Detroit Lions have re-signed OT Jonathan Scott, a 5th round pick in 2006, to the 90 man roster. He was cut by Marinelli prior to the 2008 season, sparing him from 0-16. I thought cutting Scott was a big mistake. He played well for us and stuck in the League after his time Detroit.

Scott played 28 games and started 14 and a Super Bowl.

Started 8 games for the BIlls in 2009

Played 20 games and started 6 for the 2006-07 Lions

5th round pick out of Texas.

Lions Sign Dominique Curry, Place 3 on PUP

Lions after waiving Aaron Berry have signed former Rams WR Dominique Curry to the 90 man roster.
A third year man from Califorina of Pennsylvania, He has played 18 NFL games making 12 tackles. At his pro day in 2010, he was 6021 226lbs, ran a 4.59 40 17 reps 34 VJ 1001 Broad 4.5 20 7.81 Ldrill.
He played his first 3 seasons at Cheyney University, He caught 134 rec 2,202 and 14 td. He was three year letterman in basketball as well scoring 1,079 pts and grabbing 606 rebounds. At Cal (PA), he caught 4 passes for 64 yards and 1 td, he made 13 tackles, forced a fumble and blocked two kicks.

Lions place three on the PUP list, making them not eligible to practice. They are Ronnell Lewis, Chris Greenwood and Ryan Broyles. Greenwood and Broyles may not be ready for the regular season.

Detroit Lions release CB Aaron Berry

Well it happened, Aaron Berry was released today because of off-season trouble including gun charges and DUI. The story of the gun incident is really bad. Waving a gun at people over a small incident is really dumb. The police knew who Berry was and that he was 'dumb' and dropped a pick agianst the Saints.

Football wise this hurts the Lions. Corner is a place where the Lions have little talent and experience. This leaves Chris Houston, Alphonso Smith and Jacob Lacey as the starters. The Rookies Dwight Bentley, Chris Greenwood and Jonte Green will back up.

Bringing in a veteran is possible. The list is not good. Andre Goodman, Leigh Bodden (not going to happen), Bryant McFadden, Leigh Torrence and Benny Sapp (Not going to happen). McFadden would be the best choice but Steelers have a bad track record with other teams.

The Lions could move S Don Carey back to corner which would help his chances of making the roster.

Why: Easily my favorite player of all-time. Brought the Lions from 2-14 to almost winning a play-off game.

Tom "the Bomb" Tracy 1956-1957

Why: The only player from my high school to play in the NFL and he helped to Lions to their last title 1957.

Anthony Carter 1994-1995

Why: My favorite college player and USFL player of all-time. He signed with the Lions late in his career.

Mike Furrey 2006-2008

Why: Tough guy who played both ways in the NFL. He had really no skill but found a way to get it done. He was cut from the Lions because he wanted to play with a concussion. Furrey got that concussion blocking on the KOR team. At the lunch room in Allen Park, he got into it with Mayhew and he was done. How many Lions have fought to play?
