Detroit Lions cut TE Tony Scheffler, sign OT Barry Richardson


Detroit lions waive veteran TE Tony Scheffler. Scheff had a good stretch for the lions in 2010 but has struggled the last two seasons. He has played 50 games for the Lions, 120 rec 1308 yards 8 td. This season he had was targeted 13 times catching 7 and dropping 3. In 2012, He caught 42 of 84 targets with 8 drops and was lead the team in Int targets.

Lions sign veteran OT Barry Richardson. Corey Hilliard (knee), Jason Fox (knee) and Riley Reiff (Hamstring) are out with injury. LaAdrian Waddle is the only tackle left. Richardson could start this SUnday vs. Cowboys. He ranked #43 in  2012, #75 in 2011 and # 43 in 2010 as a starter accoring to Pro Football Focus.
