Detroit Lions advanced Stats Vs. Jags

Analysis:

Offensive Line: Pass block was good. The sack by George Selvie was on a bad scramble by Stafford and I did not assign blame. BAckus gave up 2 QB hits and Raoila and Reiff both gave up one.
Run blocking was the best it had been this season. ZOne blocking by Raoila and Peterman was very effective. Cherlius and Reiff each had solid zone and down blocks. WIll HEller was effective at Tight End springing LeShoure and Bell for TD.

Skilled guys were okay. Calvin was a beast and Broyles was effective moving the chains. Titus had a huge drop and was a mixed bag blocking. Pettigrew saw limited action and was only targeted 3 times.

On defense, the Jags could not handle Corey, Sammie and Nick Fairley. They did handle Suh who had his worst game of the year. Willie Young struggled again and Cliff was a nonfactor. KVB played well against the run poor pass rush.

The secondary was not challenged deep. Erik Coleman intercepted two balls one was called back.  Gunther settled into deep zones and allowed the underneath game.

Detroit Lions Re-sign Don Carey, IR Bill Bentley

The Re-sign DB Don Carey to replace Bill Bentley. Carey is a 4th year man from Norfolk State and a former starter for the Jags. He can play either S or CB and is a proven special teams player.

Here is a tribute:

Carey has played 5 games for the Lions making 11 tackles
Carey played 14 games starting 10 games.
Welcome back to Detroit

Lions place rookie 3rd pick CB Dwight Bentley on Injured Reserve ending his season.  Bentley has struggled this season and he is the lowest ranked corner in the NFL by Pro Football Focus. My analysis has Bill playing 177 snaps, targeted 17 times with 13 completions for 196 yards. He has committed 5 penalities this season.

Here is a tribute:

Bentley has 15 tackles in 4 games this season.
Good luck Bill.
