Detroit Lions Fire OC Joe Lombardi and OLine Coach Jeremiah Washburn

Lions fire 2nd year OC Joe Lombardi. Lombardi came out of the Sean Payton system in New Orleans but never could move the ball at a consistent rate. The team leads the NFL in turnovers and is dead last in rushing.

The number one factor in this change is that the Lions could not adjust in game to defensive changes. Great examples were the San Diego game and the game vs. Minnesota. The same blitz kept getting home and hitting Staff. It was not a player being physically defeated and just need a chip or double. This was a scheme issue and no answer from the OC or Line coach.

Detroit Lions claim DT Khyri Thornton and waive DT Ish Kitchen

Lions claim DT Khyri Thornton from the Patriots. He was a third round pick in 2014 out of Southern Miss by Green Bay. He spent 2014 on the injured reserve and was waived in August.

Detroit Lions promote RB George Winn and place Zach Zenner on Injured Reserve

Lions promote third year man RB George Winn. He played for Detroit in 2013 and was on the practice squad this season. He runs with power and can play special teams but is lost in the passing game. However, with Zenner gone, Theo and Joquie hobbled, Ameer cannot hold on to the ball, Winn may get his carries.

Detroit Lions claim OT Michael Ola from the Chargers. He played for the Bears in 2013. His travels took him the Jacksonville Sharks and Montreal of the CFL.

Detroit Lions sign DT Ishmaa'ily Kitchen, Waive DE Philip Hunt

Detroit Lions sign another DT Ishmaa'ily Kitchen to supplement the signing of Andre Fluellen. Ngata and Walker are injured leaving the Lions thin at DT. Kitchen was signed UDFA out of Kent State in 2012.
