2016 NFL Draft Preview Offensive Tackles

Here is my take on the tackles

My order:
1. Laremy Tunsil Ole Miss 7.5
2. Ronnie Stanley Notre Dame 7.0
3. Jack Conklin MSU 6.8
4. Jason Spriggs Indiana 6.8
5. Taylor Decker OSU 6.5
6. Germaine Ifedi Texas A&M 6.5

Analysis:
Tunsil is a no brainer. Big guy, Moves well. Top Pick

Stanley love his tape. Moves well. Excellent foot work. Tested poorly.
His 3 Cone drill was 8.03. This makes me nervous. He might slid to the 16th pick.

Here are some other tackles:
Riley Reiff 8.02
Jeff Backus 8.03
Joe Thomas 4.88
Russell Okung 8.09
Jason Peters 7.7
Tyron Smith 7.47
Trent Williams 4.63

Conklin 7.63
Spriggs 7.7
Decker 7.7

Conklin and Spriggs are similiar. I gave the nod to Conklin because he has more polish. Both are left tackles.

Ifedi and Decker are both right tackles. Ifedi has long arms 36"

Detroit Lions Free agents Signings as of June 19

Lions have signed the following players:

Orson Charles TE 5th year

29 games 6 starts
9 rec 109 yards
Big blocking TE. Has some NFL experience. Insurance in the fall.

Andre Roberts Wr 7th year

Roberts has 87 games 39 starts
229 rec 2711 yards 13 td
Quick veteran who flamed out in Washington. Has a shot to make the roster.

Damien Copeland WR 3rd Year
5110 184 4.47 12 40 1000 3.9 6.53

Copeland has never appeared in an NFL game
34 games 116 rec 1521 yards 7td
at Louisville
Quick guy who has been hurt his whole career.

LB Jon Bostic 4th year

40 games 18 starts
143 tackles 1 pick 2 sacks
What he can do:

A veteran with speed. A 2nd round pick in 2014. Can play the weakside and special teams.

WR Andre Caldwell 9th year

105 games 18 starts
256 rec 1509 yards 11td
What he can do:

Veteran with a super bowl ring. Can play in the slot and return kicks. Will contend for the 5th WR spot.

LB Zaviar Gooden 4th year

24 games 3 starts
36 tackles
What he can do:

Athlete when healthy. A 3rd round pick by the Titans in 2013. Has not produced ti that status. Could push for a roster spot.

TE Matthew Mulligan 9th year

Mulligan 81 games 31 starts
17 rec 162 yards 2 td
What he can do:

Solid blocking TE. Strong guy.

DE Wallace Gilberry 10th year

Gilberry 115 games 22 starts
176 tackles 31.5 sacks
What He can do:
Solid NFL rotational end. Give insurance just in case the draft does not net an end.

RB Steven Ridley 6th year

Ridley 60 games 26 starts
685/2907/22 rush
27/144/0 rec
What he can do:

A solid NFL RB before a ACL/MCL injury in 2014. Can grind between the tackles and add a veteran and wining presence.

Analysis:

Another no-risk signing by Quinn. If he has some gas left he can be a piece of the running back rotation.

OG Geoff Schwartz 7th year

Schwartz 74 games 39 starts
What he can do:
A solid NFL guard when healthy. The Lions are taking a flier on this guy.

Analysis:
Could be a solid veteran if he can play Right tackle or back up the injury prone Wafrod.

CB Darrin Walls 6th year

Walls 54 games 16 starts
75 tackles 22 PBU 3 int
What he can do:
A good 3rd outside CB. Has starting experience and size.

Analysis:
The Patriots believe you can never have enough cover guys. This signing gives the Lions more depth at CB

WR Jeremy Kerley 6th year

Kerley 74 games 24 starts
182 rec 2225 yards 9td
134 pr 1250 yards 1td
What he can do:
Quick in small spaces. Good underneath receiver with solid hands. Can return punts as well. 4th receiver.

Analysis:

Solid NFL Receiver and return man. The lions still need an outside guy to compliment their corps.

WR Marvin Jones 5th year

Jones 43 games 24 starts
134 rec 1729 yards 15 td
What he can do:

A solid NFL receiver. Has a solid all around game but excels in the red zone. Jones can high point the ball.

Analysis:
A good pick up. I think the Lions will try to have a number of solid WR but not a superstar. A draft pick in this draft is in play.

S Tavon Wilson 5th year

Wilson 54 games 4 starts
69 tackles 11 PBU 5 int
What he can do:
Solid special teams player. Can play both safety and slot corner. A versatile player that Bob Quinn will value.

Analysis:
Depth guy. Could start in a pinch. I think Safety is a draftable position for the Lions.

CB Jon Bademosi 5th year

Bademosi 62 games
72 tackles 3 PBU
What he can do:
A stud special teams player. Can help out at CB. A classic 5th CB.

Analysis:
Should not impact draft plans. The Lions could use one more cover guy.

DT Stefan Charles 4th year

37 games 48 tackles 5 sacks 2 FF
What he can do.
Strong player against the run. Supplies some pass rush. a good 4th DT in the rotation.

Analysis:
Should not impact the draft however young guys like Kerry Hyder and Gabe Wright should be on alert.

S Rafael Bush 7th year

Bush 46 games 14 starts
121 tackles 8 PBU 1 int 1 FF
What he can do:
Solid NFL safety when healthy. A stop gap for the season.

Analysis:
Insurance if they cannot draft a starter at safety.
