Detroit Lions Cut Stephen Tulloch

Lions cut veteran LB Stephen Tulloch. Tully was a productive linebacker for the Lions. In his prime he was an stud run defender with enough range to cover in the passing game. The last three season Tully struggled with his range. His torn ACL in 2014 did not help.

Lions are left with Levy, Bynes, Van Noy left from last years squad. Tahir Whitehead could be be re-signed but is a UFA.

Here is a tribute:

Tully started 67 games in Detroit.

487 tackles 10 sacks 3 int 6 FR

Good Luck Tully

Detroit Lions Cut RB Joique Bell

The Lions cut veteran RB Joique Bell. Bell has been with the team since 2011 when he has signed off the practice squad of the Saints. This is my man MSW favorite player. He struggled to regain his form following multiple surgeries in the off-season. Bell played well during the last part of the season especially in the passing game.

This leaves the Lions with Abdullah, Theo, Zenner and Winn at Running back

Here is a tribute:

Bell played 60 games in Detroit Starting 15
561/2225/22 rushing
161/1640/1 receiving
lost 7 fumbles

 Good luck Joique

Detroit Lions CB Rashean Mathis retires

Veteran CB Rashean Mathis retires. Mathis was signed of the couch in training camp in 2013. He played well enough until a concussion ended his career this season. The Lions have Slay, Diggs, Lawson and Alex Carter under contract. They need a couple more CB. Corners get hurt more than any other position in the NFL.

Here is a tribute:

Mathis played 38 games starting 36 in Detroit.
127 tackles 2 int 28 PBU and 2 FF
Good Luck Mathis

Detroit Lions off-season needs

Here are the Detroit Lions needs for this off-season. I believe that the most important positions in the NFL besides QB are edge rushers and Corners. On offense tackle and WR.

# 1 need Edge rusher.

A flame thrower to match with Ziggy would be ideal. Right now the starter would Devin Taylor. Taylor is best suited for rotational duty.

Top Free Agents
DaQuan Bowers
Andre Branch
Vinny Curry
William Hayes
Cedric Thornton
Olivier Vernon
Muhammad Wilkerson

# 2 Offensive Tackle

A major weakness in the Lions offense. Michael Ola was a major upgrade to LaAdrian Waddle. Ola is not very good which says a lot about Waddle. Ideally the Lions could move Reiff to right tackle and find a solid left tackle.

Top Free Agents
Byron Bell
Cordy Glenn
Bobby Massie
Russell Okung
Donald Penn
Mitchell Schwartz
Andre Smith

#3 Wide Receiver

With the retirement of Calvin this leaves a major hole. My feeling is the Lions will try to replace him with a bunch a number 2 and 3 receivers type guys.

Top Free agents
Travis Benjamin
Marvin Jones
Jermaine Kearse
Brian Quick
Rueben Randle
Mohammad Sanu

# 4 Defensive Tackle

A deep spot in this years draft. A solid guy or two for the rotation would be a upgrade. Right now Reid, Wilson, Wright and Thornton are on the roster.

#5 TE

A blocking TE to go with Ebron would be ideal. Pettigrew, Wright and Papscoe should all be gone.

 Top Free agents
Coby Fleener
Zach Miller
LaDarius Green
Dwayne Allen
Daniel Fells

Detroit Lions sign 3 Players including Lamar Holmes

Detroit Lions sign OT Lamar Holmes. He is a veteran right tackle who last played in 2014. He was the Falcons injured reserve in 2015. Holmes has experience but struggled in pass protection.

Here is a tribute:

Holmes played 21 games in Atlanta staring 19

Detroit Lions sign veteran LB Jerry Franklin. A veteran of three teams has played mostly special teams.

Franklin played 20 NFL games
Making 12 tackles
Lions sign 2nd year Wr Austin Willis. Willis is a small quick guy out of Emporia State. He ran 4.35 40 at Kansas pro day last year. He also recorded 39.5" VJ and 21 reps at 225. This guy fits the Patriot mold of receiver.

Welcome to Detroit men
