Detroit Lions release Strength Coaches Jason Arapoff and Ted Rath

Sad day for the blog. Two of the favorites of this site have been released. Jason Arapoff and Ted Rath. Being a strength coach myself, I have attended may conferences and programs run by Coach Arapoff and Rath. Very professional and personable. They always had time for for others. Good men.

Detroit Lions hire Bob Quinn as General Manager

Lions hire Patriots man Bob Quinn as General Manager.


Here are his jobs in New England

• 2000-2001: Player personnel assistant
• 2002-2003: Pro scout
• 2004-2007: Regional scout
• 2008: National scout
• 2009-2011: Assistant director of pro personnel
• 2012-2015: Director of pro scouting

He is one of the few people allowed in the draft room with Bill.

Gil Brandt said of Quinn:

"There’s nobody close to this guy as far as knowledge and ability to evaluate. He understands analytics, he understands the salary cap, and this guy, to me, is a superior evaluator of people and players."

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson to retire

The story finally leaked today. Sources told me on Sunday that was to happen. I confirmed it on Monday. Calvin is beat up, does not want to released or subject to trade rumors, does not want to start over with a new offense and is getting to Brittany McNorton this summer.

Calvin finishes his career with

Regular Season: 135 games 130 starts. 19 rushes 167 yard 1 td. 731 rec 11619 yards 83 td 10 fumbles lost. 17 tackles.

Playoffs 2 games 17 rec 296 yards 2 td.

Pre season 45 rec 827 yards 7 td

This leaves a hole for the Lions at the # 1 Wr spot. A free agent or early draft pick is possible.
